About OCCS
Guiding children toward lives of faith, virtue, and wonder.
Oakland Classical Christian School is the working name for an early-stage school startup that is seeking to open its doors in the fall of 2027. We are developing an institution that will be oriented toward forming faith, virtue, and academic excellence in students.
Christian
The school’s curriculum, routines, and pedagogy will be designed with the goal of discipling students in love for God and others. Faculty and staff will have a strong requirement for Christian faith. Families that come to the school need not be Christians.
Classical
Classical Christian education establishes a biblical worldview, incorporates methods based on natural phases of child development, cultivates Christian virtue, trains students in reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric), and engages children in “the great conversation” through the historical Great Books.
Digital Discernment
We take seriously the evidence that digital technology frequently has harmful impacts on children. Our goal for this school is to bring together a community that thoughtfully engages and disengages with technology, saying “no” to some digital attachments in order to say “yes” to formation in relationships, engagement with the natural world, and attention for focused learning.
